Warming Chai

While enjoying a film this season, I recommend indulging in a warming Chai recipe that I’ve crafted and perfected over the years.       



First, bring six cups of water to a boil. Then add the following ingredients and allow them to simmer for approximately seven minutes. 

  • 4 tablespoons or two sachets of black tea 
  • One pinch of star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick 
  • 6 peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
  • 12 cardamom seeds
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest


Following the 7 minutes, add a half cup of your favorite milk to start, more or less milk always works. Sweeten with honey then pour and serve into your favorite mug. A splash of rose water is also tried and true, and comes highly recommended as a delicate finishing touch.
